Nitro distributed mailing system is a script to manage mailings using different mailservers. It consists of a daemon program written in C running on each mailserver, and a central managing script written as a Perl CGI. With the central system, you can check the status of each mailserver (number of mails send, if the server is down, etc.) and start a mailing on each of the servers. The mailing list(s) are kept on the central server in a MySQL database, and when starting a mailing, the necessary pieces of the list get transferred to the appropriate mailserver.
This program and script is highly scalable, and has successfully been employed to control a setup with 68 different mailservers. It can be run on a variety of hardware platforms and operating systems. Specific customizations are possible.
